Welcome to Hope Ministries

  • We are commited Christian believers seeking to minister God's healing grace to the wounded and broken-hearted.
  • We believe that each person is a unique individual of body, soul, and spirit, precious in the sight of God.
  • We work from a Biblical perspective, teaching God's truths.
  • We pray that those we serve will experience the love, joy and peace that only God can give.

Hope Ministries beginnings

Barbara Hust watched helplessly while her husband struggled with the clinical depression that ultimately took his life. While grieving, God revealed so many people around her dealing with similar issues and the need for Christian counseling. The following year, Barbara began Hope Ministries, Inc. which then led her to return to college and attain a master's degree in counseling. Soon, the ministry had four Christian counselors on staff to minister to the hurting. Prison ministry, women's addiction rehabilitation counseling and grief counseling were only part of God's plan for Hope Ministries. Several years later He opened doors to aid at-risk children in Africa.

Zambia

Our reach into Zambia began with driving lessons! Pastor Sam and Kasamba Sikapizye came to Hankins where Barbara volunteered to help them practice for their driving tests. During their road trips, Barbara heard heartbreaking stories of children being orphaned as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the efforts of Kasamba's parents, Pastor Charles and Margerat Mumba, to help care for many children by bringing them into their own home.

God laid it on Barbara's heart to purchase a small house in Ndola, Zambia (top left) where the Mumba's were able to give fifteen orphans a home and a future.

In 2007, a ten acre parcel was purchased in nearby Twapia. Barbara and board member, Shirley Blum, traveled to Zambia. They gathered around the "prayer tree" and, with local believers, prayed and anointed this land with oil. Their prayers have been answered as an orphanage (top middle), school, (top right), clinic and worship center have been built on site.

Stories of hope

Kachabula Milambo was one of the first orphans at Hope House. After finishing at Hope Fellowship Community School, he continued his education at a trade school where he graduated as an electrician.

Hope Community News

Thanks to donations we are able to have Hope Ministries Zambia purchase material and hire a local seamstress to make uniforms for each student at Hope Fellowship Community School.  For some of these children, it will be their only clothing.
